For the first time in the club's history, Çorum FK are playing in the Süper Lig. The club finished fourth in the TFF 1. Lig last season and won promotion through the play-offs, beating Esenler Erokspor 2-0 in the final on 24 May. Champions Erzurumspor FK and runners-up Amed SK went up automatically, while Kayserispor, Antalyaspor and Fatih Karagümrük went the other way.
The name Çorum FK is young, the club slightly less so. It started in 1997 as Çorum Belediyespor, played as Yeni Çorumspor from 2018 and has been called Çorum Futbol Kulübü since a merger with Çorumspor in 2019. Home games are played at the Çorum Şehir Stadyumu, which holds 15,000 spectators. Supporters call their team the Kırmızı Şimşekler, the Red Lightnings, after the red and black the club has worn since 2014. Coach Uğur Uçar arrived in February 2026 and steered the side to the top flight via the play-offs.
The fixture list was tough from the start. On the opening day Çorum took a 2-2 draw at Galatasaray, followed by a 1-0 home defeat to Kasımpaşa and a painful 6-2 loss at Beşiktaş. September brought the turnaround. Eyüpspor were beaten 3-0 and in Samsun the newcomers won 5-1 against Samsunspor. On 19 September it went wrong at home again, as Alanyaspor won 2-1.
After six matchdays Çorum FK are 11th in the table with 7 points and a goal difference of 13 scored and 12 conceded. Those 13 goals stand out, only Fenerbahçe, Amed SK and Beşiktaş have scored more. Jesús Ramírez is the squad's top scorer with four goals, two of them in Samsun. Alexandros Kyziridis managed three goals and two assists in four matches. In our own DT points a midfielder leads the way. Fredy has collected 67 points from six starts and two assists. The most talked-about arrival is Youssoufa Moukoko, who joined on loan from FC København. He has come off the bench three times and provided one assist.
The contrast with fellow newcomers Amed SK is striking. They top the table with 13 points, level with Galatasaray, and in Gift Orban they have one of the league's two top scorers, with seven goals. Erzurumspor FK are 14th on the same number of points as Çorum.
My view is that Çorum can stay up, but the home matches will have to produce more. Three games at their own ground have brought three points, while the three away trips yielded four. The margin is now four points over Göztepe and Eyüpspor, who sit 17th and 18th. After the international break Çorum travel to Gaziantep FK, a direct rival with one point more.
