A defender's hat-trick in Lugano and a 7-0 in Munich lead the Team of the Week

The cross-league Team of the Week is back, and this weekend the selection comes from eight competitions. Bayern Munich beat Union Berlin 7-0, Fenerbahçe hammered Eyüpspor 8-0 and Barcelona won in Sevilla, yet the most points went to two players from leagues that fewer people follow: a defender from Switzerland and a midfielder from Romania, both on 33.

Between the posts is Mergim Krasniqi. The GAIS goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win at Mjällby in the Allsvenskan and finished on 23 points, a tidy return for a keeper who had little else to do.

The back line has an unusual look. Hannes Delcroix of Lugano scored three times in the 4-0 win at Lausanne Sport in the Swiss Super League, worth 33 points and a match rating of 9.84. Joaquin Seys of Club Brugge set up two goals in the 3-0 against Genk in the Pro League. In the Bundesliga two clubs supply the rest: Miguel Gutiérrez scored and assisted in Bayer Leverkusen's 2-0 win over RB Leipzig, and Alphonso Davies provided two assists in Bayern's 7-0 against Union Berlin.

In midfield, Nicușor Bancu shares the top spot with Delcroix. The Universitatea Craiova midfielder laid on two assists in the 5-0 against FCSB in the Superliga and, like the Swiss, ended on 33 points. Julius Lindberg scored and assisted in Häcken's 5-0 win at Kalmar, and Michael Olise scored three and set up another for Bayern. His match rating was 10.00, and it does not go higher than that.

Up front, Raphinha remains a fixture. The FC Barcelona Brazilian scored three times in the 3-1 win at Sevilla in La Liga. Vedat Muriqi went one better: four goals in 69 minutes in Fenerbahçe's 8-0 against Eyüpspor in the Süper Lig, for a rating of 9.59. Andraž Šporar completes the attack. He scored both of Slovan Bratislava's goals in the 2-1 win at Komárno in the Niké Liga.

What stands out to me is that Germany supplies three players, yet the two highest totals come from Switzerland and Romania. In this game a defender's goal is worth five points, against three for a midfielder or forward, and you can see it at the top of the list.

Away from the points, there was also a moment this weekend that stays with you. At AZ - Telstar in Alkmaar, the whole stadium applauded in the twelfth minute for Ronald Koeman junior, the Telstar goalkeeper, whose mother passed away last week at the age of 65. Sparklers were lit and the AZ supporters joined in. Koeman could not hold back his tears. AZ won 1-0, but that was secondary at that moment. That is how beautiful football can be.
